Thuraya Predicts 20,000 Phones to be sold in 2010

Thuraya is seeing a strong market in 2010 for its handheld Thuraya XT satellite phone.  The Thuraya XT continues to generate interest in both business and vertical markets.  So far Thuraya has sold over 8,000 of the XT satellite phones this year and expects to sell over 20,000 satellite phones by the end of 2010. 

A number of key Thuraya distributors and customer have been showing great demand for the XT satellite phone due to its innovative design and functionality, which has set new benchmarks in the satellite phone market.

According to the Thuraya sales team they have sold 4,000 XT satellite phones by the end of the first quarter and have confirmed orders during this month of 4,000 more XT phones.

Thuraya XT phone sales have been sold across several markets including Afghanistan, Libya, Sudan, Iran and Saudi Arabia in many vertical sectors including military, oil and gas, broadcast media, corporations and their main customer base maritime.

The Thuraya XT satellite phone weighs only 193 grams, which combined with unique capabilities, features and its robustness makes it very popular even in the harshest of environments.

The Thuraya XT satellite phone is the only phone that is both IP54/IK03 certified making it shock, dust, and water resistant. 

The Thuraya XT not only has voice capabilities it provides data services with download speeds of 60 kbps, allowing connection to the Internet using a PC.  The XT also has GPS navigation in a robust sleek design.
